Malcolm Fraser: A Personal Reflection is a personal account of the life of Australia’s fourth longest serving prime minister who won three elections. A politician of considerable ability and strength, he was involved in the downfall of Liberal Party prime minister John Gorton and Labor Party prime minister Gough Whitlam.
Malcolm Fraser (1930-2015) entered the House of Representatives at the age of 24 and was regarded as a dyed-in-the-wool conservative. He retired from politics in March 1983 and was soon regarded as a moderate or small “l” Liberal. Fraser quit the Liberal Party in late 2009.
Gerard Henderson BA (Hons) LLB, PhD is executive director of The Sydney Institute. He is a columnist for the Weekend Australian and his Media Watch Dog blog is published by Sky News Australia. Gerard Henderson presented the ABC TV Four Corners program on former Australian Labor prime minister Bob Hawke in August 1994 and was a panelist on the ABC Insiders program between 2002 and 2019. He worked for Kevin Newman, a minister in the Fraser Government (between 1976 and 1980) and for John Howard (between 1984 and 1986).
